ELEVEN (11) CHILDREN RECEIVED GIFT BASKETS FOR CHRISTMAS
Eleven (11) children who had recently lost one or both parents received Christmas gift baskets from the Stubbs Police Youth Club, which held its second (2nd) and final Christmas community project for 2022 on Monday, December 19 at the Stubbs Community Centre.
According to Area Coordinator, Corporal Lovitha Boyea, only five (5) children were initially air-marked to be beneficiaries. “However, we discovered that there were more children who fit the criteria and as such, we made a decision to increase the number of recipients and value of the baskets”, said Boyea.
“Losing a loved one can bring some challenges, especially for children and we are ready and willing to stand in the gap and with our children because they need that support”, said Deputy Coordinator, Ms. Yolande London. The initiative was sponsored by FLOW, Digicel and SAGICOR. “We are thankful and happy that these companies have stepped up and honoured their corporate social responsibility”, said London.
The ceremony also heard brief remarks from Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Junior Simmons, SAGICOR representative Ms. Alicia Pilgrim, National Coordinator of Police Youth Clubs, Sergeant of Police, Mr. Stephen Billy, and Area Representative Hon. Frederick Stevenson, Minister of the Public Service, Sports, etc.
Club members, parents and well-wishes were on hand to support the children.
