Former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has announced that he will travel to St. Lucia to deliver a historic address to a joint session of the country’s House of Assembly and Senate.
The special address is organized to commemorate the 75th anniversary of universal adult suffrage in St. Lucia.
Speaking during a political radio broadcast, Gonsalves shared that his presentation will focus on the historical development of universal adult suffrage and the unfolding of the social democratic revolution in St. Lucia.
Gonsalves expressed gratitude to the leadership and citizens of St. Lucia for extending the invitation. He specifically thanked the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the President of the Senate, the Prime Minister, and the government and people of St. Lucia.
Describing the occasion as a significant milestone, Gonsalves highlighted that addressing a joint session of another nation’s parliament represents a profound honor.
