SVG records 28th murder after shooting in Lowmans Leeward

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force has launched an investigation into the country’s 28th homicide of the year after a man was killed in Lowmans Leeward early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026. The victim has been identified as Amir Roberts, a 30-year-old labourer residing in the Lowmans Leeward community.

According to police reports, Roberts was walking along the Lowmans Leeward public road when he was targeted by an unknown assailant or assailants. The attacker(s) opened fire, striking Roberts multiple times about his body.

A district medical officer arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and officially pronounced Roberts dead. Authorities have scheduled a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death as the investigation continues.

The RSVGPF has issued an urgent appeal to the public for any information regarding the shooting. “The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force is appealing to members of the public with any information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist with the investigation,” the department stated in an official release
