In a move to bolster bilateral relations, His Excellency Pertti Ikonen, the Ambassador of Finland, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Dwight Fitzgerald Bramble, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Kingstown, served as a vital platform for the two officials to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore new avenues for enhanced collaboration. According to a statement from the Ministry, both nations reaffirmed their shared commitment to achieving common international goals.
A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to cooperation in the field of Maritime Security, identifying it as a key area for future partnership.
The diplomatic relationship between the Republic of Finland and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines dates back to September 11, 2007. This recent high-level visit highlights the ongoing importance both nations place on diplomacy, mutual respect, and cooperation as essential tools for addressing global challenges.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that such engagements are fundamental to maintaining strong international ties and fostering a spirit of mutual support between the two countries.
