Fire in New Montrose

1 Min Read

The Fire Department says it responded to a fire in the New Montrose community around 8.45am, today March 13th. The fire fighters fought up to midday before they could put out the blaze, according to information received from the fire officials.

Officials at the department told news784 that they had to solicit the use of one fire tender from the Argyle International Airport to help quell the inferno. The two storey home is the property of 60 year old Steven DaSilva of New Montrose.

The upper section of the building was completely destroyed, however fire fighters say they were able to save the bottom section which is currently being rented to Justin DaSilva  as a store room.

Misleading information via a Facebook post had suggested that bandits were responsibly for burning a 4 bedroom home in New Montrose, claiming everything was destroyed in the fire.

Authorities say an investigation into the cause of the fire is on going .
