The Forestry Services within the Ministry of Agriculture is urging Vincentians to ensure that they are prepared for the Hurricane season.

The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season is an ongoing event in the annual formation of tropical cyclones in the Northern Hemisphere. The season officially began on June 1, 2018, and will end on November 30, 2018.

The encouragement came from Senior Forestry Supervisor, Cornelius Richards – who said that people often wait until the last minute, to have their overhanging trees cut.

Mr. Richards is, however, appealing to persons to become more proactive in order – to have matters addressed early – to ensure that they are fully prepared for the Hurricane season.

The main development region of the Atlantic Basin spans the Caribbean Sea and the tropical Atlantic and accounts for where 85 per cent of all tropical storms form.
