Francis Accuses Government of changing laws to protect themselves

2 Min Read

“The Unity Labour Party is constantly finding ways to secure its grip on power” this according to Nick Francis President of the Young Democrats an arm of the New Democratic Party.

Francis speaking on Nice Radio Thursday night said;  “ it’s not about governing in the interest of all Vincentians, it’s not about economic growth and prosperity of all, it’s not about creating an opportunity for young people to excel, it’s really about staying in power”.

Francis pointed to a program hosted by Isreal Bruce on SVG TV on Wednesday night, where he showed the dilapidated state of the roads in South Central Windward as an absolute failure of Hon Sabato Ceaser, who have not looked after the needs of the constituency as a case in point.

Francis accused the Ralph Gonsalves led government of changing the laws of the country to make sure they are not held accountable to the people.

“They change the representation of the peoples act, and they also change the criminal procedure code where you have to go to the DPP to get a fiat to do anything,  to bring a private criminal complaint why,  why should public officials not be held to the same standards as the rest of us in this country”.

The young Democrats President further accused the government of using the laws to put a hedge around them.
