  • French woman busted with hashish in Suriname

Customs investigators in Suriname arrested a 38-year-old female passenger on Thursday, January 18, 2024, after disembarking a KLM flight at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport in Paramaribo.

Police in Suriname say the woman, who lives in France, attempted to smuggle more than 25 kg of hashish into Suriname from the Netherlands.

The harmful substance was found in her suitcase during a search and confiscated.

The suspect was then transferred to the Narcotics Department for further investigation.

After consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect was taken into custody.
