49 year old Keith Warren a farmer from Georgetown was on Wednesday, June 27th, 2018 sentenced to a jail term of 3 years on two separate charges of possession of 5.5lbs of cocaine with intent to supply and for the purpose of drug trafficking after he appeared at the Serious Offences Court where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

Warren was first arrested and charged jointly along with Bevan Boyea a truck driver of Byrea Hill.

When both men appeared in Court the first time they both entered pleas of not guilty, however when they re-appeared in Court on Wednesday, June 27th Boyea maintained his innocence while Warren changed his plea to guilty.

The controlled drug was discovered in several bags in the front of a Volvo truck which was being driven from one of the Ferries to the Grenadines Wharf by Boyea.

The police who acted on a tip-off signalled the driver to stop and he complied.  A search was then carried out on the truck where the drugs were discovered.

A fine of $25,000.00 was also ordered to be paid by Warren on the completion of his 3-year jail sentence at which time he will have a six months period in which to pay or he will face another 1-year jail sentence.
