32-year-old Sheldin Clarke from the community of Langley Park in the Georgetown community who was arrested and charged for having in his possession 102gms or 0.22 pounds of cocaine at the Grenadines Wharf on January 18th, 2018 has changed his plea.
Clarke had pleaded not guilty when he first appeared in court, but at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday, June 5th, changed, his plea to that of guilty.
The Court heard that on the date in question Clarke went to the Grenadines wharf and it was during such time Police who were on duty conducting checks on persons travelling to the Grenadines Islands.
A check was conducted on Clarke and a plastic bag containing the drugs was discovered which led to his arrest.
A fine of $7000.00 was imposed upon him to be paid forthwith the balance of which $4,000.00 was to be paid forthwith or 1-year imprisonment, the balance of $3,500.00 is to be paid by September 10th, 2018 or a one-year jail term will be imposed.
