The Girls’ High School’s (GHS) Rhea Ollivierre copped the top spot in the 2016 FLOW Lions Club South Public Speaking competition on Wednesday night at Russell’s Auditorium.
En route to the first place and the Michael DeFreitas Challenge Trophy, Ollivierre won the main topic category, “The recently enacted Cybercrime Act, with all its virtues, can suppress fundamental rights and freedoms”.
Ollivierre, apart from being rewarded with a two-year $1,600 per year scholarship also won for her school, $3,000 that must be used towards a school project.
Coming in second was the St. Vincent Grammar School (SVGS), represented by Rasheed Fontenelle, while in third place was the Georgetown Secondary School’s (GSS) Andre Spring. Spring won the student prepared topic with, “Skin bleaching, a teenage male perspective”.
The Mountain View Adventist Academy’s Jamaal February won the best impromptu category with his views on “Illegal Drugs”.
