Opposition leader Ralph Gonsalves in a Facebook video offered Christmas greetings and a happy new year 2026 to the citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Gonsalves message emphasized a transition from a “difficult and competitive election period” into a season defined by goodwill, love, solidarity, and good neighbourliness.

The Former PM said the “reason for this season is Christ in our lives”. He encouraged a peaceful season of giving and caring, focused on thanking God for blessings rather than engaging in “rum drinking” or “gluttony”.

Gonsalves said the period should be used for brotherhood and sisterhood.

“While there are many national issues to discuss, now is not the time for that,” prioritizing the holiday spirit over political matters.

Gonsalves encouraged Vincentians to be happy in a “very special way” and, most importantly, to simply love one another.
