CARACAS – Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves were among world leaders who attended the swearing in of Nicolas Maduro for a second term.
Maduro, was sworn in on January 10 before the Supreme Court of Justice ( TSJ ) for the period 2019-2025.
Gonsalves said there was a Caribbean electoral observer mission which said the election was free and fair and reflected the will of the people.
He said imperialism and its allies are seeking to undermine the legitimacy of President Maduro.
“Imperialism and its allies do not care about fair elections, they are concerned about regime change, they want to put their hands on the oil and natural resources of Venezuela”.
Maduro at the swearing ceremony stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen the integration blocs, such as the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America (ALBA) and Petrocaribe.
He says that the programs are seriously threatened because the empire wants to impose again an intolerant, imperialist, interventionist ideology that characterized the twentieth century of Latin America and the Caribbean.
