Government To Ensure Rural Communities Benefit From Tourism

There is an urgent need to ensure rural communities benefit from visitor arrivals to this island. PM Gonsalves disclosed this at a press conference held last week.

“ What we have to do also is in the rural areas, make sure people in the community benefit from tourism”.

“ The timber cottages that can be constructed from North Leeward all the way up to North Windward and in some central locations”.

Gonsalves noted that the Government is prepared to assist persons, entrepreneurs, in the same way, that they are interested in supporting individuals involved in information technology.

In November of 2016 government supported 16 young people in the area of ICT to the sum of 2 Million Dollars.

Gonsalves further stated that for individuals who may want to get involved in constructing of cottages, his Government would be able to consult with different state agencies to ensure a smooth process.
