Grenada ends 2025 Winlott campaign with commanding win over SVG
Hosts Grenada, having failed in their bid to retain their WINLOTT WICB Under-19 Cricket Championship title which was won last year, ended their 2025 campaign with a commanding eight-wicket defeat of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on Sunday April 13, 2025 at Progress Park.
Grenada won the toss and fielded, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines struggled to establish a foothold as wickets fell at 11 for 1, 33 for 2, 67 for 3 at which point Damali Phillips retired hurt. It was then 107 for 4, 133 for 5, 137 for 6, 148 for 7, 160 for 8, 169 for 9, all out 180 in 49.1 overs. There were 27 extras made of 4 leg-byes, 20 wides, and 3 no-balls.
Bowling for Grenada, Enoch Toussaint took 2 for 18, Kirtsen Murray 2 for 26, Kirt Murray 2 for 39, Khavaughn Bartholomew 1 for 14, Jovannie McIntosh 1 for 19, Clevon Bartholomew 1 for 21, and Desron Mitchell 1 for 29.
In reply, Grenada knocked off the runs required with 19.3 overs to spare – 181 for 2, with Kirt Murray not out 83, Kirsten Murray 22 not out, Justin John made 37, and Rickell Sylvester 22. There were 16 extras made of 1 bye, 1 leg-bye, 12 wides, and 2 no-balls.
Devonte Mc Dowall took 1 for 20, Kevin Joseph 1 for 27 as St. Vincent and the Grenadines only wicket-takers with Grenada losing wickets at 41 for 1, and 119 for 2, with extras contributing 16 made of 1 bye, 1 leg-bye, 12 wides, and 2 no-balls; Grenada going on to win by 8 wickets.
