Grenada launches beautification competition ahead of Garden festival

The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture’s 4-H Unit and key national partners, has launched the National Beautification Competition, inviting schools, community groups, and individuals across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique to transform and enhance their surroundings ahead of the inaugural Grenada Flower and Garden Festival, taking place from 8 to 15 November 2026. Registration is now open and closes on 30 June 2026.

The competition forms part of the wider Grenada Flower and Garden Festival programme, which aims to celebrate Grenada’s natural beauty, horticultural heritage, and growing potential as a garden and nature tourism destination. Participants are encouraged to undertake projects ranging from roadside and community garden improvements to school beautification initiatives and enhancements to public and tourism spaces.

“This competition is about inspiring Grenadians to take pride in their surroundings while working together to create cleaner, greener, and more beautiful spaces. Through the 4-H programme, we see every day how young people can become leaders in environmental stewardship and community development. We want every parish and community to be part of this festival while showcasing the creativity, beauty, and talent that exists throughout Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique,” said Alice Jones, Co-ordinator of the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands and Forestry’s 4-H Unit, which equips children with practical skills in agriculture, leadership, and community engagement.

The initiative encourages collaboration among residents, youth groups, schools, and community organisations while promoting care for the environment and a culture of beautification that extends beyond the festival itself.

“The National Beautification Competition allows communities across the country to play a direct role in the success of the Grenada Flower and Garden Festival. Together, we can create a more vibrant, welcoming, and beautiful Grenada for residents and visitors alike while building a legacy of pride in our communities,” said Randall Dolland, Chairman of the Grenada Tourism Authority.

Registration for the National Beautification Competition is now open and closes on 30 June 2026. Judging will take place in October, with winners announced during the Grenada Flower and Garden Festival Flower Show in November.
