A festive Carnival Saturday was marred by tragedy yesterday when a serious boating incident off Grand Anse Beach claimed the lives of two women.
According to eyewitness accounts, the two women jumped together from a vessel identified as the Kayak Princess. In a horrific turn of events, they both came into contact with the boat’s propeller.
The impact was immediate for one of the victims, who reportedly died at the scene. The second woman was rushed to the General Hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life, but she later succumbed to her injuries.
Following the incident, reports indicated that one body could still be seen in the sea while authorities worked the scene.
The captain of the Kayak Princess has been detained by police as investigations into the fatal accident continue.
