The RBC Young Leader’s initiative 2017 challenged schools with creating a project centered on the theme “I Am We Volunteering for Impact”.
This led the Georgetown Secondary School Young Leaders 2017 (GSS Young Leaders 2017) to formulate their subtheme “I give back; we move forward”.
To this end, a charity drive which initially saw donations of several boxes containing toiletries and clothing to the Lewis Punette Home, the Mental Health Institution, and the Pediatric Ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, was extended to the fire victims of Brownstown.
On Thursday 30th March 2017 the group donated some of the items collected to the residents of Georgetown who lost their homes in the fire on the night of Wednesday 29th March 2017.
This was followed by a donation of foodstuff to the victims currently housed at Belle Vue on Thursday 6th of April.
