The Police and members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) sometime around 1am on Tuesday, November 1st were engaged in a shootout with criminal elements.
The police were called into action when two men shot at a security guard on duty at the East Caribbean Metals Industries Ltd (ECML) compound in Campden Park.
The female security guard, Eugene Gordon a 49-year-old resident of Edinboro, sustained a bullet wound to the stomach. She is now hospitalized.
News784 understands that Gordon is expected to undergo surgery around 10 am today.
The suspects also attacked security at the JU-C (St. Vincent Bottlers) compound, also at the Industrial Estate and managed to make off with a quantity of “Village Ram” beverages, an energy drink produced by the company.
The security guard there, according to reports suffered no serious injuries.
The police chase and shootout ended in the area known as Old Buff in Campden Park where police exchanged fire with the suspects .
The police have since arrested two suspects from Lowman’s Windward in connection with the incident.
One assailant was pulled from a gutter and the other was extracted from under a car.
The suspects were captured by Police without further incident or loss of life.
