Police in Guyana are looking into an alleged incident involving a five-year-old girl from Wismar Linden who was found with a bullet in her throat. The event took place on Wednesday night.
According to a police complaint, around 1 p.m. on Thursday, medical workers from the Linden Hospital Complex reported that a kid had a warhead trapped in her throat.
Detectives went straight to the five-year-old child, who was receiving medical attention in the Linden Hospital’s Emergency Room.
The mother of the child told police that she had put her daughter to bed and was attempting to put her eight-month-old infant to sleep when she heard the child wailing.
When the mother asked the 5-year-old what was wrong, the child said that she had hit her throat.
The woman put the kid back to sleep by applying ‘Petroleum jelly’ to her throat. The woman stated that she noticed her 5-year-old daughter weeping at 8 a.m. this morning, so she examined her throat and discovered that it was swollen.
She immediately rushed her child to Mackenzie Hospital, where she discovered that the victim had a gunshot lodged in his neck.
On the neck, there was a minor entrance wound. The person has been admitted and will have surgery to remove the bullet (warhead).
According to investigations, the victim lives in an apartment on the northern/eastern bottom flat of a two-story concrete structure.
There is one bedroom, a kitchen and a tiny living area in the flat. A wooden wall divides the victim’s flat from the front apartment, which is occupied by a male, on the western side.
A small circular hole was discovered on the wall, which was considered to be a bullet hole. The entire scene was captured and processed. The region was investigated, but no spent shells were discovered. When the police arrived, there was no one in the front apartment.
Persons in the neighbourhood were questioned, and one neighbour stated that she heard a huge explosion around 10 p.m., but she couldn’t determine from which direction the sound came. However, shortly after hearing the explosion, she heard the wail of a small child.
As investigations continue, checks are being undertaken to locate the suspect.
