Unstable atmospheric conditions are set to impact St. Vincent and the Grenadines starting Saturday evening and extending into Sunday, bringing light rain, pockets of moderate to heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services issued a 72-hour weather outlook at noon on Saturday, October 10, outlining the impending weather activity.
According to meteorological forecaster Joan Mc Donald, additional rainfall across the island chain could trigger flash flooding, slope slippage, and landslides.
A formal Weather Advisory (“Be prepared”) is in effect for Sunday, October 11th. Residents and motorists in areas vulnerable to flash flooding, landslides, or located near rivers and streams are urged to be prepared, as a Flash-Flood Watch may become necessary.
Islands across the territory will experience gentle to moderate breezes ranging between 15 and 25 km/h, with occasional gusts reaching 35 to 40 km/h. Wind directions are projected to vary from northeasterly to southeasterly in localized areas. In addition, slight to moderate haze may be noticeable across the islands at times.
