Plans are officially well underway for another spectacular year of Carriacou’s premiere culinary event, Corn Fest 2026. Following a historic milestone last year, the highly anticipated cultural showcase is scheduled for Sunday, October 25th, 2026, strategically aligning with the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend.
The 2025 festival marked a major turning point for organizers and the wider community when it was hosted for the first time at the Hillsborough Botanical Gardens. The venue received overwhelmingly positive feedback from domestic and international patrons, vendors, and stakeholders alike.
Emerging as the consensus ideal location, the Botanical Gardens seamlessly blends Carriacou’s rich culinary traditions with natural beauty and easy accessibility. Building directly on that momentum, the 2026 festival will return to the stunning venue under the inspiring theme, “Discover and Relish Corn’s Goodness.”
Carriacou, widely known for cultivating large quantities of corn, will once again showcase the incredible versatility of its staple crop. Patrons can expect a wide array of traditional and innovative corn-derived products, including beloved local delicacies such as coo-coo, corn bread, corn cake, corn porridge, corn-kebabs, and the traditional conkie—locally known as ‘paime’.
Corn has long been the predominant staple food enjoyed by the island’s ancestors and remains a permanent, sacred feature at traditional “Saraca” (smoked food) feasts. Beyond the culinary delights, Corn Fest 2026 is designed to inspire and encourage community togetherness. This year’s event will also celebrate Carriacou’s wider heritage by putting a spotlight on local cultural traditions, including vibrant live string band music.
Festival organizers Lendore and Leggard, who both possess extensive backgrounds and deep knowledge of the local cultural and tourism landscapes, expressed high optimism for the event’s trajectory. They envision Corn Fest continuing to expand its footprint as a permanent fixture on the island’s cultural calendar and establishing itself as a prominent feature on Grenada’s national culinary events calendar.
Organizers invite locals, regional neighbors, and international visitors to come out to the Hillsborough Botanical Gardens on October 25th to experience the very best of Carriacou’s flavors, music, and community spirit.
Established 2015 to celebrate and preserve the agricultural and culinary heritage of the island, the Carriacou Corn Festival brings together food lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and families to explore the rich history and diverse products derived from the island’s primary staple crop.
