On Friday, Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) Representative in the Eastern Caribbean States (ECS), Mr Gregg Rawlins, paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation, Hon. Israel Bruce, and the Minister of Fisheries, Marine and Land Conservation and Climate Resilience, Hon. Conroy Huggins.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce IICA’s newly appointed Technical Specialist, Mr Rohan McDonald and also to discuss IICA’s ongoing collaboration with the Ministries and ways to further strengthen the partnership in support of the agricultural and fisheries sector and rural development in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Mr McDonald noted that his familiarity with the challenges affecting both sectors places him at an advantage, and he is ready to begin working on rectifying them.
The Ministers welcomed Mr McDonald in his new capacity and expressed their anticipation of continued collaboration with IICA. They highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships that can create new opportunities within the agricultural and fisheries sector, enhance support for farmers and fishers and contribute to sustainable rural development.
Also present was IICA’s Administrator for the ECS, Mrs Rosette Bacchus.
