The Inland Revenue Department says it will be forwarding cases to the Attorney General’s Office, for criminal charges to be laid against chronic tax evaders.
Comptroller of the Inland Revenue Department Kelvin Pompey said the Department will be compiling a list of these persons, to take the necessary action against them.
Mr. Pompey said the department hopes to start having charges brought against chronic tax evaders within the coming months.
He said March 31st is the deadline, for individuals and businesses to file their returns. He said the audit and investigative unit, is working assiduously to ensure that persons are in compliance with the income tax act.
