Indian Arrival Day Activities begins June 1st

Activities to mark Indian arrival day here in St Vincent and the Grenadines will take place on Thursday, June 1st to Sunday, June 4th.

On Thursday, June 1st, 2017, there will be educational interviews and news releases, and on Sunday, June 4th members of the Indian Community will gather at the Young Island Dock, take boats to Indian Bay beach, dressed in Indian wear and produce a re-enactment of the arrival of Indians in SVG from 1861 to 1880.

As the boats are offloaded, a short official ceremony will be held, followed by Breakfast for all; the party will then drive to Rawacou for another official ceremony and Cultural presentation at 1.30 p.m. followed by lunch at 3.00 p.m.

June 1, 1861, a ship with 260 Indians landed on the Western end of the Kingstown harbour, Edinboro.
