The Jamaican government has enacted a temporary suspension on all official foreign journeys for public sector personnel through March to strictly curtail public spending.
This restriction applies broadly to ministers, executives, board members, and general employees as part of an effort to redirect funds toward rebuilding the nation following Hurricane Melissa.
Although a few strict exceptions exist for emergencies, security, and storm recovery, even permitted trips require rigorous written justification and approval.
Furthermore, officials have mandated that any previously scheduled international journeys must undergo immediate evaluation to ensure compliance with these new financial containment policies.
