Kaya Farms, which has established two medical cannabis dispensaries in Jamaica, has set its sights on spreading its wings into the Caribbean with the opening of a facility in St Vincent and the Grenadines by the end of this year.
“By the end of the year we will start selling in St Vincent,” said Balram Vaswani, chief ganja officer of Kaya.
He made the disclosure at the official opening of Kaya Herb House, a $33 million investment, in Falmouth, Trelawny last week.
In March 2018, Kaya Farms became the first legal medical cannabis dispensary to open its doors in Jamaica, with the opening of a facility in St Ann.
The Trelawny investment which, according to Vaswani, was a “natural succession”, represents Kaya’s commitment to not just growing the tourism product in the town of Falmouth, but also to building the local community.
“Falmouth represents a perfect balance between both locals and tourists, so it was natural for us to expand here,” Vaswani said.
He also expressed the belief that Jamaica has the potential to be a major player in the health tourism industry, with the help of medical marijuana.
