Honourable Member for South East St. Ann in the Jamaican Houses of Parliament, former Minister of Youth and Miss World 1993, Lisa Hanna will headline the Girl Guides Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ City Takeover to be held on Saturday 18th February, 2017.
The City Takeover will be one of the many activities to celebrate World Thinking Day under the theme – Grow.
The format of the event will see members of the Girl Guides Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, parents, friends of guiding and well wishers walk through Kingstown from the Cruise Ship Berth along a special route that touches the three main streets in Kingstown: Bay Street, Middle Street and Back Street and onward to the Girl Guides Headquarters.
Along, the route there will be special activities that each participant will enjoy. The event will begin at 12pm sharp with registration; warm up with Lindon James of Befit SVG and fun photography.
Following the registration, participants will complete various legs with special activities along the way.
The event will culminate at the Girl Guides Headquarters with messages of support from Parliamentary Ministers, a showcase of guiding talent and the feature presentation by the Honourable Lisa Hanna.
International Commissioner of the local Association, Mrs. Beverley Reddock stated that the event is to build awareness about the Girl Guide Association of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and also to market girl guiding as an opportunity to develop the full potential of girls and young women in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Chief Commissioner, Mrs. Laura Browne highlighted that “every girl should have the chance to grow, learn and reach her potential.
We are seeking to really redouble our efforts to really invest in more girls and young women so that they are able to develop their full potential and contribute more meaningfully to the development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.” T-shirts for the event are available at the Girl Guides Headquarters in Level Gardens
