- Rappelling, is the controlled descent of a steep slope, such as a rock face, by moving down a rope.
Karlyn Langridge, a 28-year-old female from British Columbia, Canada, died while rappelling the Trafalgar Falls, according to the Dominica Police Force (CDPF).
According to Inspector of Police Fixton Henderson, the event occurred on Thursday, December 28, 2023, when Langridge and her 27-year-old boyfriend, also from British Columbia, Canada, were canyoning in the Roseau Valley area at 1:30 p.m.
“Karlyn was rappelling a waterfall at Trafalgar when she went silent.” She was assisted by local tour guides and first responders from the fire and ambulance services on the spot. “However, she remained deafeningly silent,” Henderson revealed.
Following that, at the emergency room of a Dominican China Friendship Hospital (DCFH), a medical specialist checked the 28-year-old and proclaimed her dead.
