Kemron Peters a 25 years old resident from the communities of Biabou and South Rivers has been ordered to spend the next three years at Her Majesty’s Prison on two separate charges of gun and ammunition.
The order was given on Wednesday August 12th by Chief Magistrate Browne when he appeared before her charge for having in his possession one firearm that contained seven rounds of point 45 ammunitions without the relevant licenses and entered guilty pleas.
Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche while presenting the fact of the case told the Court that on the date in question Detectives at the Criminal Investigations Department were on routine mobile patrol in the McKies Hill area when Peters along with two other males were seen walking on the public road opposite Haddon Hotel on September 8th, 2018 at 12:47am.
Having recognized the trio the Police alighted the vehicle and approached them during which time the Officers identified themselves due to the fact that they were dressed in plain clothes and requested a search on them.
During the search a firearm containing seven rounds of ammunition was discovered in the pants waist of Peters. He was immediately cautioned by the Officers and he stated that he was sorry for having the gun in his possession and begged for a chance.
However when asked by the Chief Magistrate the reason for having the weapon in his possession he stated that he was carrying it for his protection and that he was seeking a job to try to turn his life around.
In reply Magistrate Browne told Peters that he was recently granted bail for another alleged offence and she was very surprised to see him back before her so quickly.
