The Barbados Short Course Swimming Championships took place from December 6–10, and Kione Deshong represented Black Sands Swim Squad in the boys 9–10 age group category.

Having spent the last twelve months on a specialist training programme, Deshong delivered record-breaking performances. He brought back six gold, three silver, and two bronze medals and, whilst doing so, smashed five SVG national records.

Accompanying Deshong were swimmers Tayeah St. Hilaire and Saj Caesar from the Blue Marlins Swimming Club.

St. Hilaire won seven golds, two silvers, and six bronze medals in the girls 11–12 age group, while Caesar swam in the boys 8 and under age group, winning two bronze medals and setting personal best times in all of his races.
