(NEWS784.COM) – A westward-moving tropical wave presently located east of the island chain is expected to produce showers and thunderstorm activity by Tuesday.
Meanwhile, at 11 pm last night Tropical Storm Kirk weakened to a Tropical Depression.
At 5 am, Tropical Depression Kirk was centred near latitude 9.5 North; longitude 37.4 West, or 1615 miles east of the Windward Islands.
“Kirk” is now moving towards the west near 24. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 35 mph with higher gusts.
Some fluctuation in strength is forecast during the next day or so, and it is possible that “Kirk” could begin to weaken by the middle of the week as it quickly moves across the Central Atlantic.
On the present forecast track, the centre of this system is forecast to approach SVG by late Thursday.
Possible watches and warnings will be issued by the middle of the week.
All residents are advised to keep informed on the progress of “Kirk” and pay close attention to the information being issued by Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services.
