Lavia ordered to surrender passport after allegedly swindling $114k

On October 8, 2026, police arrested and charged Tristan Lavia, a 40-year-old marketing officer of Enhams, with two counts of deception.

Investigations revealed that the accused allegedly dishonestly obtained the sum of $29,000.00 ECC in cash from a 26-year-old police officer of Cane End, with the intention of permanently depriving him of it.

He was also charged with allegedly dishonestly obtaining $85,000.00 ECC in cash from a 51-year-old senior education officer, with the intention of permanently depriving her of it.

The offences were committed in Kingstown on March 13, 2026, and May 15, 2026, respectively. Lavia appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate Court on October 8, 2026, where he pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $45,000.00 ECC with two sureties and was ordered not to have any contact with the complainants.

He was also ordered to surrender all travel documents and to report to the Central Police Station every Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Stop notices were placed at all ports of entry and exit.

The matter relating to the $85,000.00 ECC was adjourned to June 13, 2027, while the matter relating to the $29,000.00 ECC was adjourned to June 21, 2027.
