Minister of National Security Hon. St. Clair Leacock is urging citizens to desist from certain unsafe practices which are deemed traditional.

In an address, the Minister said, traditions such as burning tires, blocking roads and firing of guns put lives at risk and should not be encouraged.

“The roadblocks that can cause hazards in the road, cause accidents and accidents can take lives…the shooting off of guns, I hope you have license for that…., the bonfires, lighting old tires, we could do without that,” the Minister said.

The Minister also made mention of some criminal activities which took place over the past week, including a kidnapping, a fire and a murder.

“Definitely, we want to see the homicides in this country on the downward slide…collectively we as a people can get a good hold on the crime, violence and lawlessness and respect, good order …takes precedence,” the Minister noted.
