On Thursday, September 1, 2022, police arrested and charged Tuckron Jacobs, a 23-year-old Farmer of Lowmans Windward with the offence of Grievous Bodily Harm
Investigations revealed that on the 17 May 2022 at Lowmans Windward at about 10:30 pm, the Accused unlawfully and maliciously inflicted Grievous Bodily Harm on a 69-year-old Farmer of the same address by chopping him about his head and body with a cutlass.
Jacobs was jointly charged along with Keyron Boyea, a 24-year-old Labourer of Lowmans Windward with the offence of Damage to property.
The assailant was accused of damaging one (1) 3×3 aluminium and glass window valued at $ 400.00 ECC, one (1) 4×3 aluminium window with glass louvres valued at $500.00 ECC, one (1) 36×80 wooden and glass panel door, valued at $550.00 ECC, one (1) big wooden table, valued at $250.00 ECC, one(1) small wooden table valued at $ 125.00 ECC, one small purple dish, valued at $10.00 ECC, one(1) sheet of 12 feet unpainted galvanize valued at $110.00ECC, total value $2020.00 ECC, by chopping same with a cutlass and smashing windows with stones. The items are the property of the virtual complainant of Lowmans Windward. The incidents occurred at Lowmans Windward at about 10:30 pm on 17.06.22.
The assailants appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Friday, September 2, 2022, to answer the charges. Jacobs pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to three years for Grievous Bodily Harm and nine months for Damage to Property. Both sentences will run concurrently.
However, Boyea pleaded not guilty and the matter was transferred to the Biabou Magistrate Court.
