Storm Gonsalves last week while as a guests on Boom FM 106.9 recounted a frightening security breach involving a mentally ill man at their family home in Gorse.
Storm noted after his father (Ralph Gonsalves) left home with his single security officer, a man approached the gate and entered the yard and by the time he came out of the shower and got dressed, the intruder had already entered the kitchen.
The younger Gonsalves said the man arrived carrying a suitcase and stated that he wanted to “move in with the prime minister”. Storm described the individual as “mentally challenged” or “mentally installed”.
He told the OMG show that he breeds large dogs, but fortunately for the intruder, his “big boy” was tied up at the time; otherwise, the dog would have charged the stranger.
Storm said he had used the incident to argue that his father’s current security arrangement is inadequate. He contended that regardless of politics, failing to protect a former Prime Minister and current Opposition Leader creates a risk of “instability” for the country if a serious incident were to occur
Senior Gonsalves in early January described the current state of his personal security as an “unresolved” issue.
Gonsalves argued that after serving as Prime Minister for nearly 25 years, he possesses a vast amount of sensitive information regarding national security, intelligence, and confidential “things between states” that are not officially documented.
He emphasized that any “sensible nation” would want to ensure a former leader is protected so that no external parties can coerce or pressure them into revealing classified information.
