The early stages of a marketing plan to promote St Vincent and the Grenadines as a tourist destination in Oman has commenced.
The marketing ploy is being spearheaded by SVG Honorary Consul to Oman Deron Grant, who held discussions with the Muscat Daily Newspaper on Wednesday surrounding the promotion of the island.
Grant met with Basem Ezzat and Disthiqua Hassen both Advertising Managers at the Muscat Daily.
The Honorary Consul noted that the traditional tourist season is November to April, however, the country is trying to secure a market to have visitors coming to the island in the offseason.
” April to September is upwards of 50 degrees hot in Oman, thus persons would like to escape to a cooler and more exotic destination, which is what the promotion is geared towards”.
Grant stated that the CEO of the Tourism Authority Glen Beache held discussions with him earlier in December and he was given the green light to establish various contacts, and to put in place the mechanisms for an advertising platform.
The Advertising which would start from January 2018, would begin in Oman with a view to expanding such promotions to UAE, and Qatar.
The areas of interest would be geared mainly towards tourism and foreign direct investment, the promotions are being done in conjunction the Tourism Authority and Invest SVG.
