With the downward spiral in Mathematics here in St Vincent and the Grenadines, the Ministry of Education has brought about a new initiative in hopes of stemming the slide.
The Mathematics Panel is expected to improve the teaching and learning of Maths in educational institutions across the country.
In August, Minister of Education St. Clair Prince had said that the Ministry of Education was seeking to improve the pass rate among students sitting Mathematics at (CSEC) examination.
The panel consists of primary and secondary school teachers, education officers and retired educators of Mathematics, according to the SVG Education Media Unit.
They would seek to advise on the selection of appropriate teaching and learning resources; Analyze and review Mathematics syllabuses and propose strategies and approaches for teaching concepts along with training workshops.
Ministry officials had disclosed that the pass rate in Mathematics in SVG moved from 47.35% in 2016, to 40.13% in 2017.
