Mexico supports Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with medical devices and humanitarian aid
On board a Mexican Air Force plane, the team of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), headed by its Executive Director, arrived at the Argyle International Airport of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to carry out the ceremony for the handing-over of two Mexican-made medical devices for mechanical respiration and humanitarian aid as a show of solidarity from the Mexican authorities to support the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the Mexican official said, before Senator Hon. Keisal Peters, Minister responsible for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and Mr. Cuthbert Knights, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, that “it is an honour for AMEXCID to be in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to hand-over these medical devices that are part of a commitment assumed by the Government of Mexico when the pandemic caused by COVID-19 began to impact the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean”.
As part of the handing-over ceremony, the representatives of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines thanked the solidarity and humanitarian aid from the Mexican Government through bilateral cooperation mechanisms, since these actions are of great relevance for their country in difficult times that imply multiple challenges for the Caribbean island, while noting the friendly relationship that has been cultivated over the years by both countries.
To conclude, the Executive Director of AMEXCID expressed being proud to see how the work of Mexican technicians resulted in the development of medical equipment that can be shared with countries in the region, which will surely help strengthen hospital capacities and thereby save lives, for which she recognized the support provided by the Mexican Honorary Consul in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Mr. Joel Providence, and the General Directorate of the Mesoamerica Project, by working in a coordinated manner to concrete these efforts.
