Most schools across SVG to reopen; 14 remain closed

Following recent severe weather conditions, most schools across St. Vincent and the Grenadines will resume normal, face-to-face classes on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

An official update from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation, Digital Transformation and Information confirmed that while most students can return to the classroom, 14 educational institutions will remain closed on Wednesday.

The following primary and secondary schools will remain closed on Wednesday, October 7:

  • Belmont Government School
  • Brighton Methodist School
  • Calder Government School
  • Cane End Government School
  • Dorsetshire Hill Government School
  • Emmanuel High School Mesopotamia
  • Evesham Methodist School
  • Gomea Methodist School
  • Marriaqua Government School
  • New Prospect Primary School
  • St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua
  • South Rivers Methodist School
  • West St. George Secondary School

Additionally, Buccament Bay Secondary School remains closed for regular classes as the facility continues to serve as an active emergency shelter.

The Ministry stated that it is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further official updates as necessary.
