It was with great pleasure that The Mustique Charitable Trust (MCT) announced the following four students as the Bursary Recipients for the academic year 2018-2019:
Shameka Alexander Bachelor of Education: Literacy Studies
Gabriella Kydd Bachelor of Science: Social Work,
Shakira London Bachelor of Science: Youth Development Studies
Avyeng Murphy Bachelor of Science: Management Studies.
On Saturday 3rd November, 2018, an awards ceremony followed by a social evening was held at Frenches House.
A laptop along with 60% of the academic fees was awarded to each of the four students which brings the total to 15 students now in the MCT bursary programme.
Camille Lakhram and Deborah Dalrymple of UWI Open Campus made brief remarks thanking The Mustique Charitable Trust for their continued and invaluable support to the programme.
Lavinia Gunn and Dularie Malcolm of the Mustique Charitable Trust also made brief remarks and reminded the students of the rigorous selection process and encouraged them to persevere and do their best.
However, the highlight of the evening was the motivational feature presentation by Dr. Kenneth Onu which had students leaving with the mantra “The name of the game is to stay in the game until you win the game”.
The MCT Programme began in 2010 and not only produced two valedictorians but has empowered numerous students in their progress through life.
The Trustees of MCT are grateful to Mrs. Deborah Dalrymple, Head of Site, and the Open Campus staff for their invaluable assistance in providing mentorship to the students to ensure successful completion of their studies.
