Authorities are currently investigating the death of a visitor from aboard the MV Queen Victoria. The individual was reportedly a cruise ship passenger who had spent the day exploring the islands before the fatal incident occurred at the Grenadines wharf in capital Kingstown.

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has launched an investigation into the death of a male visitor, which occurred on Sunday, January 18, 2026, aboard a ferry operating within the Grenadines.
The deceased has been identified as David John Hyde, a 73-year-old visitor, who was pronounced dead by a district medical officer later that day.
Preliminary information suggests that the deceased may have sustained injuries consistent with a fall; however, a post-mortem examination is scheduled to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The RSVGPF is encouraging anyone who may have information that can assist with this investigation to contact Police Emergency at 911 or 999, the Criminal Investigations Department at 784-456-1810, or any police station or police officer.
