A new affordable housing lottery has launched for a brand-new residential development in East New York, offering units with rents starting as low as $830 per month.
The building, located at 888 Fountain Avenue, is part of the state’s Vital Brooklyn initiative. This large-scale project is transforming the site of the former Brooklyn Developmental Center into a residential hub that will eventually feature more than 2,400 units.
Modern Amenities and Living Spaces The development is designed to provide residents with several quality-of-life amenities, including:
- A fully equipped gym
- An on-site laundry room
- A dedicated computer room
- A recreation room for community gatherings
The current lottery includes a range of apartments available to households earning 40 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI). The breakdown of available units and their financial requirements is as follows:
- Studios: There are 8 units available at $830/month. These are designated for households of 1 to 2 people with an annual income between $32,263 and $54,280.
- One-Bedrooms: 17 units are available for $1,051/month for 1 to 2 people. The household income range is $40,355 to $54,280.
- Two-Bedrooms: 19 units are priced at $1,245/month for households of 2 to 4 people. Eligible applicants must earn between $48,412 and $67,840.
- Three-Bedrooms: 5 units are available for larger households of 3 to 6 people at $1,423/month, with an income requirement of $55,955 to $78,720.
Prospective tenants should prepare their applications for the upcoming drawing. The housing lottery is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 9.
