In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Public Service Commission has officially announced the acting appointment of seven Permanent Secretaries within the Public Service.
The new appointments, which officially took effect on June 8, 2026, were necessitated by recent retirements of former Permanent Secretaries, as well as a broader government restructuring that saw the creation of three new ministries.
The appointments were formally approved by His Excellency the Governor General, acting upon the advice of the Public Service Commission and with the explicit consent of the Honourable Prime Minister. All seven officials will serve in their acting capacities until further notice.
The newly appointed acting Permanent Secretaries and their respective government portfolios are:
- Ms. Gizelle Myers, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries, Maritime and Land Conservation and Climate Change.
- Mr. Colville King, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation.
- Ms. Dornette Hull, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Housing, Land Management, Urban Development and Informal Settlement Upgrading.
- Ms. Angelita Miller, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of The Family, Gender Affairs, Persons with Disabilities, Local Government and Labour.
- Mr. Rommel Currency, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries.
- Dr. Donna Joyette-Bascombe, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism and Sustainable Development.
- Mrs. Joanne Benjamin-DaSilva, appointed as Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environmental Health and Energy.
These key leadership transitions are expected to stabilize the operational framework of the Public Service as it adapts to its expanded ministerial structure.
