Starting from this year, students enrolled in the Taiwan scholarship programmes can now apply for a work permit in Taiwan.
The announcement was made by Taiwan Ambassador to St Vincent and the Grenadines His Excellency Baushuan Ger.
Ger who was speaking at the presentation ceremony for the 2017 Taiwan Scholarships Programme on Monday 14th said, the new scheme aims to encourage the eligible international students to gain more hands-on experience and sharpen their Mandarin language skills.
“I hope many of you will utilise this new scheme. That is, when you come back to SVG, you will bring back with you not only a degree but also working experiences and beautiful Mandarin you speak”.
His Excellency said that it is impossible to send all those who have applied for scholarships to go to Taiwan, for those who are not successful, Ambassador Ger urged the students not to feel frustrated.
“Among the various areas of bilateral cooperation between our two countries, my government always considers education and training opportunities for young people a top priority”.
“Although we have limited capacity to sponsor more young Vincentians to go to Taiwan, we are committed to helping through working with the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines”.
19 Vincentians were awarded the Taiwan Scholarships offered by both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Taiwan ICDF.
