On Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, through the Venezuelan Institute for Culture and Cooperation Higo Chávez Frías (VICC) held the Welcome and Orientation Class to mark the beginning of the third quarter of Spanish and Venezuelan culture courses being offered by the VICC free of cost to the Vincentian people.
Head of the Venezuelan Diplomatic Mission, Francisco Pérez Santana welcomed the twenty-two (22) new Spanish language students who will attend Level 1 and took the opportunity to explain the current political and economic situation of Venezuela and the economic blockade to which the Venezuelan people have been exposed due to the growing and incessant coercive and unilateral measures of the US government.
The best way that we have from the Bolivarian Revolution to face these criminal aggressions led by the Trump administration is to continue our work for the strengthening of the diplomacy of peace, not even the worst blockade will prevent us from continuing to strengthen the diplomacy of peace and the peoples and rest assured that we will keep the Bolivarian and Chavez flame alive in each action and activity that we undertake, the courses and aesthetic workshops that we offer for free are the best ethical and moral incentive to continue in the battle for the integration and unity of the peoples of the Caribbean, ” Pérez said.
The beginning of the third quarter of academic activities 2019 has a total of 82 students in Spanish language levels 1-4 and 6-7, with the aim of strengthening their knowledge of the Venezuelan language as well as the Venezuelan culture with the Musical Expression Workshop: the cuatro workshop; the Venezuelan Typical Gastronomy Workshop and the Venezuelan and Caribbean Literature Workshop-
Academic coordinator of the VICC, Prof. Andreína Bermúdez reiterated the advantages of learning a foreign language to the new students “as a communicative and cultural window to meet our peoples” and explained the mission of cultural institutes in the Caribbean «the VICC have a presence in 16 countries around the world.
In the last 18 years, cultural and academic policies have been oriented towards strengthening Latin American and Caribbean identity. This has been possible thanks to integration mechanisms such as the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, Petro Caribe, promoted by the Bolivarian Government ».
Professor Nauris Sam, a teacher of the first level of the Spanish course in this academic period, described her experience as a teacher at the IVCC as rewarding and urged the students to take advantage of the time that would help them in their personal growth and professional.
Jenene Spring, a student of the final level of the Spanish language at the Institute also took the opportunity to share her personal experience both in the Spanish classes and in the cooking workshop she attends, ensuring that «the Venezuelan culture is part of my culture» and insisted on the importance of valuing the effort made by the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela to give these classes for free.
