A Rabbit Rearing Project in North Leeward carried out as part of the “Enhanced Capacity for Improved Food Security and Livelihoods Project”, comes to an end today.
Some thirty persons consisting of males and females residing in the Troumaca and Rose Hall communities will receive a certificate of completion, along with rabbits and rabbit rearing kit which will consist of medicine, feeds, waterers, feeders and manual.
The project was spearheaded by the Rural Transformation Unit within the Ministry of Agriculture and funded by the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF), to the sum of US $28,000 dollars.
The Rural Transformation Unit provided project participants with three component hutches and nesting boxes.
Training was also carried out on how to slaughter a rabbit, prepare the rabbit meat, marketing strategies, business skills and proficient rabbit rearing practices.
The closing ceremony takes place at the Troumaca Secondary School from 10 am this morning, and will hear remarks from Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar, and other officials.
