The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has officially announced that Wednesday, September 2, 2026, will be a day of national remembrance as the country accords an Official Funeral to the late Mr. Alpian R. Allen. Mr. Allen, a distinguished former Member of Parliament for the North Leeward constituency, passed away on August 18, 2026.
As a mark of respect for his legislative service and contributions to the nation, all national flags throughout the State will fly at half-mast on the day of the funeral. In an official statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister, the Government extended its sincere condolences to the family of the late statesman during this period of bereavement.
The state proceedings on September 2 will commence with an Official Viewing at the temporary Parliament Building at Calliaqua. Invited dignitaries and government officials are scheduled to pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.. Following the dignitaries’ hour, the doors will open to the general public from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.. The public is advised that proper attire is requested for anyone attending the Official Viewing.
Later that afternoon, the formal funeral service will take place at the Kingstown Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m.. This service will be preceded by successive viewing sessions at the church:
- 12:00 p.m. (noon) to 1:00 p.m.: Viewing reserved for government officials.
- 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Public viewing and open tributes.
Following the church service, the late legislator will be laid to rest at the Kingstown Cemetery.
