Official Pass Now Required To Remove Sand From Richmond

The Ministry of Transport and Works, in a press release, said there has been an increase in the removal of sand from the Richmond Beach and that the ministry is in possession of photo’s to prove such.

Effective Thursday 14th June 2018, no one is allowed to remove sand or gravel from the Richmond Beach without a pass issued by the local government office which is located opposite the Chateaubelair Police Station.

Security personnel have been placed at the Richmond, and are authorized to demand such a pass from anyone wishing to remove sand or gravel from the beach.

Police have been instructed to stop any truck with sand or gravel coming from the Richmond area, and demand the required approval.

The arrangements will be enforced on a 24-hour basis.

The Ministry in its release said the removal of sand is only authorized from Drip Beach at Rabacca, and any other removal is illegal or prohibited.
