Order Placed For An Additional 24 Ventilators

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is increasing its capacity to fight the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

So far COVID-19 has claimed the life of 248k persons, while there are 3.5 million cases worldwide as of Monday 4th May 2020.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Simone Keizer Beache said the Ministry has seven pure Ventilators as well as other anaesthetic machines.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans.  In humans, several coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered coronavirus causes coronavirus disease COVID-19.

Keizar -Beache said an order has been placed for an additional 24 Ventilators to add to the existing capacity.

She is encouraging people to strengthen their immune systems as Vitamin D is very important in the fight against COVID 19.
